1. Circulation

People who want to borrow materials must be registered and have a Library card; all such patrons must be Lawton and/or Porter Township residents.

A. Lawton Public Hoopla Policy

Borrowers must be 18 years or older, must be a resident/property owner of the Village of Lawton and library account is in good standing.

Seven (7) downloads are available for each month and late fees for past due library items will stop all services.

Hoopla borrowed items can be read, listened to, or viewed on both the website and the mobile app, and on the app they can be downloaded for use offline.  Items borrowed in Hoopla cannot be renewed.  However, since Hoopla doesn’t have hold lists, if an item you’ve not finished is returned you can check it out again right away.

Most audiobooks, comics & eBooks are available for 21 days.  Items can be renewed before they are due.  Renewing an item will use one of your remaining borrows for the month.  You can return a title early by clicking the Return Now button located at the bottom of the title or on the title info page.

Access to digital audio/video will be provided through a password-protected website and mobile app call Hoopla established by Midwest Tape.  All internet connected devices are compatible with the Hoopla Website.  All Android and IOS mobile devices are compatible with the mobile app.  Currently, Hoopla is supported by IOS devices that run IOS 6. Library cardholders in good standing will have access to the full Hoopla Collection of music, movies, television shows, and audiobooks. All items are DRM (digital rights management) protected.  All items borrowed through the Hoopla website are streaming.  All items will expire automatically, no fines will be assessed.  Movies can be borrowed for 2 days.  Television episodes can be borrowed for 2 days.  Music can be borrowed for 7 days.  Audiobooks can be borrowed for 21 days.  Circulation periods are determined by the vendor (Midwest Tape).  All items in the Hoopla catalog are available to borrow and use immediately.  No holds are necessary for this service. Items may be returned early, but items cannot be renewed.  All technical errors and questions will be handled by Midwest Tape Direct.

B.  Lawton Public Overdrive/Libby Policy

Libby borrowed items can be read, listened to, or viewed on both the website and the mobile app, and on the app they can be downloaded for use offline.

Access to digital audio/video will be provided through Overdrive Inc. website and mobile app called Libby.  All internet connected devices are compatible with the Libby website.  All items will expire automatically, no fines will be assessed.
